I made many mistakes when i started and would have done it different and after wasting money i'm finally on the right path to be able to do what i want to do and retain a certain quality without having to spend 4,000 every upgrade. when spending over 1,000 on any gear i think this should be taken into consideration if you want to grow and not shoot yourself in the foot. I can't afford a nice 8 channel converter earlier this year but now selling my rosetta 200 plus $800 on top it looks like i can because it retained it's value. the thing with rack gear is you can take it anywhere you go with your studio and swap things out. it sucks to blow 2,000 and find out hey now i have a extra $900 to play with and would of been able to flip the other things i bought but now it doesn't have much value. I try to buy quality rack gear when possible to retain value for when i want to upgrade and cash out. sure it will get the job done but that would be investing into it more and possibly be something you lose money in the long run. I don't know about the signature mods either as any long term investment especially with the new avid stuff coming out.
